Materialities was founded to support material-led companies in navigating the increasingly complex architectural and design specification landscape.

We combine extensive hands-on experience in material research, interiors, specification and consultancy with a clear focus on manufacturer needs. Over the years, we have worked closely with architects, designers and suppliers, developing a deep understanding of how materials are researched, selected, specified and delivered within real projects.

Today, Materialities operates primarily as a consultant and A&D representative for manufacturers, helping brands position themselves clearly, communicate effectively with specifiers, and build meaningful relationships within the UK market.

We work in a strategic, collaborative and independent way — acting as an extension of your team rather than a traditional agency. Each engagement is tailored to product type, market maturity and commercial goals.

Heading up Materialities is Karin Skoglund.
​
She has degrees in Spacial Design, Interior Design and Interior Architecture from the University of the Arts, London.
​
Karin gained over 10 years of professional experience as an Interior Designer, FF+E Designer, Materials Librarian and Researcher prior to launching Materialities in 2018.
She's experienced in project management and has worked with manufacturers as an A&D consultant for the A&D market.
​
Among other certifications, Karin is a registered LEED Green Associate, BRE Associate and Prince 2 Certified.
